Horticulture isn't just about gardening, those with a qualification in horticulture could be designing and landscaping parks, gardens and sports grounds or developing land for large businesses such as hotels and golf clubs. You could also work in production; growing and selling plants, producing brand new hybrid varieties and finding out how best to care for and grow plants for decoration and for eating. Students undertaking the full time horticulture courses will also have the opportunity to take part in educational visits, such as to Kew Gardens, RHS Wisley, Stourhead Gardens and a study tour to Holland. We also offer a range of forestry and arboriculture based courses for individuals as well as working professionals, which include chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting and felling and processing trees. So if you are new to the business and looking for experience or simply want to learn more to get that project started in the back garden, we have a course for you! Our facilities on the Lackham campus include numerous workshops, glasshouses, woodlands, landscaped grounds, sports pitches, zoological gardens and an extensive historic walled garden, all for you to gain valuable, hands-on experience to help in your career.
