Level 3 Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship
About this course

This apprenticeship course is for people who want to gain professional experience  while training for a Level 3 Construction Contracting Operations qualification, including the Extended Level 3 BTEC in Civil Engineering.

You’ll learn all the skills you need to liaise between the engineers, management and operatives on a construction site. You’ll also get a comprehensive insight into how construction sites operate, with hands-on experience in a variety of different roles.

What will I learn?

The course includes training in:

  • Safe working practices
  • Managing excavation, plant and piling
  • Laying domestic drainage
  • Levelling and Setting out
  • Information, quantities and communicating with others
  • Building methods and construction technology
  • Mathematics for civil engineers
  • Carrying out pre-pour inspection and testing of concrete
  • Planning and design process and environmental considerations
Entry requirements

You will be aiming for a supervisory or management role in civil engineering or construction.

Four GCSEs at grades 9-4 or equivalent which must include maths, a science subject and English.

To help us assess your suitability for the course, you'll need to complete a Skills Learning exercise and maths test.

Study, assessment and qualifications

On completion of this apprenticeship you will gain the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Construction Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations
  • Level 2 Functional Skills (maths and English)
