Entry requirements

Although Pearson do not specify formal entry requirements for students who have recently been in education, the entry profile is likely to include the following:

  • Two A Levels at grade C or above in relevant subjects such as Mathematics or Physics or a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering with grades MM or above.
  • Three GCSEs in English, Mathematics and Science at grade C (4) or equivalent.
  • Interviews are likely to include an initial assessment.

Where English is not the applicant's first language, applicants must demonstrate capability in England at a standard commensurate with IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 being awarded on individual sections.)

Study, assessment and qualifications

Studied part-time over two years, this course is assessed through a mixture of continuous assessment methods using coursework assignments and written assessments for some higher grades.

Practical sessions take place in modern purpose built labs with specialist equipment and software provided.  Students have access to resources such as the college's online learning environment, eStudy as well as free access to a wide range of eBooks.

On successful completion of this course, you will achieve an HNC General Engineering, awarded by Pearson.
