About this course

This course is for experienced tractor operators with a requirement to use tractor-mounted ground crop sprayers with a hydraulic nozzle or rotary atomiser boom to apply pesticides (excluding pedestrian controlled machines).

Upon successful completion of this, together with the Foundation module (PA1), you will receive a Certificate of Competence and photo ID card issued by the NPTC.

What will I learn?

The following topics will be covered:

  • Legal Requirements and Safety Regulations
  • Perform a Risk Assessment of the area to be sprayed
  • Identify and correctly fit nozzles or restrictors, setting the pressure and checking spray quality prior to use
  • PPE - using the correct procedure to clean PPE, and other equipment, which may have been contaminated with pesticide chemicals
  • Calibration techniques - calibrating sprayers to suit the speeds and spray widths of the area to be covered
Entry requirements
Please DO NOT book this course unless you have achieved the Foundation Module, NPTC Pesticide Application PA1, covering the legislation and health and safety elements.
Study, assessment and qualifications
Assessment will consist of a combination of observations of your practical skills and question and answer sessions in order to assess your knowledge and understanding of the module.
Additional costs and information

The purpose of the NPTC assessment is to prove occupational competence - further charges will apply if re-assessment is required.

NB: The assessment will take place after the training has been completed; this will be on a different day. You will be sent the date in your joining instructions, 7 - 10 days before the courses start date.
