The level 5 Diploma in leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) is specifically designed for those in management roles, responsible for promoting a caring, healthy, stimulating, safe and secure environment for children and young people in their care.
This would apply to those working in residential care settings such as:
• Residential care homes
• Residential special schools
• Therapeutic communities
• Secure children’s homes
• Shared care and short break settings
To achieve the City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England), learners must achieve a minimum of 65 credits overall. 57 credits must be achieved from 15 mandatory units. Learners must also complete a minimum of 3 optional units and achieve a minimum of 8 credits.

Learners must already be in a management role.
Learners must be 19 years of age or older.
Learners are assessed through a combination of assignments and workplace evidence, e.g. observation, professional discussion, questioning and witness testimony.
Successful learners will achieve the City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential childcare (England).

New managers will need to complete the qualification within three years of employment.
