Running a car is not a cheap
process. Fuel costs, repairs and servicing can all have a significant impact on
your bank balance, so why not join us for some practical guidance in getting to
understand how your car works and save yourself some money at the same time. No
previous experience is necessary, just a genuine interest.
What will I learn?
The course aims to provide
you with a basic introduction to how a vehicle works.
The following topics will be covered during the course:
How to keep the cost of motoring down and avoid expensive garage bills
Basic understanding of how your vehicle works: engine, transmission, brakes,
steering, electrics, fuel systems, exhaust systems and bodywork
Making you more aware of the importance of basic safety measures including
scheduling for regular safety checks
Monitoring all aspects of car and engine systems and developing an ability
to conduct basic repairs and maintenance
Carry out fundamental checks for the MOT

Study, assessment and qualifications
Assessment is informal,
based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken
regularly with you by the course tutor.
There are no final qualifications associated with this course.
Additional costs and information
You will need to bring
overalls and hard-capped boots with you for working in the workshop.
