For Beginners the aim of the course is to enable you to develop new skills and experience working with various materials, tools and equipment to create finished pieces of jewellery. For Experienced students the course aims to provide an opportunity to experiment with a broad range of jewellery techniques, materials and processes in order to design and complete their tutor supported projects.
For Beginners the following topics will be covered during the course: Term 1
Students are advised to wear old clothing and appropriate protective footwear in the workshop, and will also be required to provide their own note pad and pen, A4 size folder, pencil case containing permanent black fine-nib pen, 30cm/12" ruler, drawing compass, collection of hard and soft grade (H and B) pencils and rubber eraser.
The tutor will advise you where to buy specialist materials, such as precious metal, stones or wires, however these can be purchased through the tutor at a separate charge on a cost basis if you would prefer, subject to availability.
You might wish to progress onto the next 10 week block(s) of this course to further develop your skills, and perhaps onto the Creative Jewellery Workshop - Advanced in due course. You could also progress onto another of our creative courses, which include drawing and painting, sewing and dressmaking, textiles, upholstery, photography, print making, pottery, creative writing, interior design and much more!
