About this course

The UK bee population is in sharp decline, so now is your chance to make a real difference for the future.

This course will give you the knowledge you need to set up and care for your very own bee colony. Learn about the natural history of bees, the equipment you need to succeed, how to open a hive carefully and exactly what you need to do to extract the honey!

You will also study colony management, possible diseases, health issues and how to prevent and control swarming.

Whether you have lots of land, a small garden or even an urban rooftop, you can set up and take care of your very own hive and benefit from harvesting your own honey!
