About this course

This course is ideal for you if enjoy being creative. In this fun workshop you will learn about: the history of linocuts; some famous artists who created linocuts; how to develop an image into a format suitable for linocutting; safe and effective ways of cutting the lino; a variety of printing processes; how to mix printing inks to achieve exciting colour blends; and different print surfaces.  

What will I learn?

On completion you should be able to:

  • Recognise key methods in linocuts
  • Have an overview on the history of linocuts
  • Work safely in the print studio
  • Successfully cut a lino block
  • Use a range of techniques, tools and materials to print your lino
  • Evaluate your outcomes

There are no entry requirements associated with this course.
Study, assessment and qualifications

Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.  There are no final qualifications associated with this course.

Additional costs and information

There are no additional course costs.

You should bring with you:

  • a sketchbook
  • pencils
  • a range of visual images as inspiration for your linocut
  • printouts of internet research on linocuts
