About this course

This course is suitable for those seeking a career in professional forestry, amenity or utility arboricultural work.

What will I learn?

The following topics will be covered:

  • Be able to promote health and safety and industry good practice
  • Be able to fell trees and process trees over 380mm
  • Understand relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice
  • Understand how to fell and process trees over 380mm
  • Understand how to remove branches from felled trees using a chainsaw
  • Understand how to take down hung up trees
Entry requirements
Please DO NOT book this course unless you have previously achieved NPTC Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting (CS30) and Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm (CS31).
Study, assessment and qualifications
Assessment will be through observation of your practical skills and question and answer sessions.
Additional costs and information

You will need your own transport as the course takes place at Wiltshire College for half of the first day and is then at an alternative site for the rest of the course duration.

The purpose of the NPTC assessment is to prove occupational competence; further charges apply if re-assessment is required.

It is desired that attendees bring the following items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the training and assessment:

  • Chainsaw protection trousers
  • Chainsaw protection boots
  • Chainsaw protection gloves
  • Chainsaw safety helmet (in date)

 These must comply with current BS EN Standards. Please contact us if this is not available to you.

NB: The assessment will take place after the training has been completed; on a separate day. You will be sent this date in your joining instructions, 7 - 10 days before the courses start date.
