About this course

This nationally recognised qualification is suitable for those who apply pesticides using handheld applicators, e.g knapsack pesticide applicator.

Upon successful completion of this, plus the PA1 module, you will receive a Certificate of Competence and photo ID card, issued by the NPTC.

What will I learn?

The following topics will be covered:

  • Legislation
  • Risk assessment
  • Identifying and correctly fitting nozzles or restrictors, setting the pressure and checking spray quality prior to use
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - using the correct procedure to clean PPE which may have been contaminated with pesticide chemicals, in accordance with legal requirements and safety regulations
  • Calibration of sprayers to suit the speeds and spray widths of the area to be covered
Entry requirements
Please DO NOT book this course unless you have previously achieved the Foundation Module, covering the legislation and health and safety elements within NPTC Pesticide Application PA1.
Study, assessment and qualifications
The assessor will observe your practical skills and ask questions to determine your level of knowledge and understanding of the module.
Additional costs and information

The purpose of the NPTC assessment is to prove occupational competence; further charges will apply if re-assessment is required.

NB: The assessment will take place after training has been completed; this will be on a separate day. You will be sent the date in you joining instructions, 7 - 10 days before the course's start date.
