The college recognises that it is not always possible for students to complete their AAT Level 4 studies in one academic year. In addition, some students may have completed the AAT Level 4 Diploma course but wish to study a new option unit for their own professional development. This course enables students to register for up to four modules of the Level 4 programme.
Achievement will allow you to gain recognised professional qualifications. You will be increasing your skills and knowledge relevant to your job role.
IMPORTANT: If you have been involved in bankruptcy or IVA proceedings you must contact AAT as soon as possible to obtain approval before you enrol on the course. In most cases you will still be able to commence your studies. The approval process may take six weeks or longer in some cases.
The course content will depend on the unit or units for which you have enrolled. The AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting includes the following units:
All options are assessed by computer-based assessment.
You will need to have completed the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting before attempting any of the Level 4 units.
The AQ2016 synoptic assessment requires prior knowledge of the management accounting and financial accounting units so you should have completed your studies in these units before enrolling for the synoptic assessment. Please note also that the synoptic assessment is only available at certain dates of the year, set by AAT.
In most cases you will infill into one of our existing AAT Level 4 classes. Timings will depend on the subject or subjects studied. Please contact the course tutor in your preferred centre to discuss your requirements.
You will need to buy the textbooks for your chosen unit or units, approximate cost £20 per unit. You will also need to maintain your AAT registration.
This is particularly important if you are intending to complete AQ2013 units. If your registration under AQ2013 lapses, after 1st September you will automatically be re-enrolled by AAT on AQ2016. AQ2013 units are not transferable to AQ2016.
Achievement of the AAT Level 4 provides a number of options for progression. Once you have carried out sufficient work experience, you can gain full membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians.
You could continue on to one of the chartered accounting qualifications. Alternatively, some students use the AAT Level 4 as a means of entry to university degree courses.
