About this course
This course is designed for Plumbers and Gas fitters who hold formal qualifications in either Plumbing or Gas to NVQ Level 2 or Advanced Craft Certificate in related subjects, and who would like to become Gas Safe registered to work with Natural Gas.
What will I learn?
You will gain a basic understanding of the installation, testing and maintenance of gas pipework up to 35mm in diameter and relevant associated areas. You will learn about tightness testing, pipework installations, ventilation, flues, gas controls and CPA1 (Gas Flue Analyser).
Entry requirements
You will be asked to provide 2 passport photographs, a copy of your NVQ Level 2 certificate in plumbing and a log of hours worked externally to the college showing that you have relevant experience in domestic gas work. This is a mandatory requirement enforced by Gas Safe.

An interview is required for this course.

Study, assessment and qualifications
Upon successful completion you will receive a Basic Gas Safety CCN1 Certificate.

The assessment process will cover both practical and theoretical aspects of basic gas safety over a 2-day period. All candidates must achieve 100% pass rate in all aspects of the assessment process.

  • What could I do next?

    You could progress onto further study once you have achieved your CCN1 qualification, such as Central Heating and Water Heaters CENWAT1, Direct Air heating DAH1, Gas Cooking Appliances CKR1, LPG Changeover and more.
