Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor. There is no final qualification associated with this course.
You will need to bring with you all the material you need to complete your project; some will be available for purchase from the tutor (including webbing, hessian, horsehair, cotton waddings and calico etc) but not top cover material.
You should also bring with you the piece of upholstered furniture on which you wish to work during the workshop as well as scissors, a tape measure and a notebook and pen. You may leave your piece of furniture at the centre during the weekend if you wish.
You may like to record your own progress photographically - if so please bring a camera.
You are advised to undertake a small upholstery project, although more adventurous projects may be undertaken. If you would like advice please contact the tutor through the Adult Enterprise office on 01225 756289.
Some tools will be available for you to use during the session. Your handout pack will also include information on fabrics and materials, tools and equipment, materials suppliers, basic techniques and a reading list.
