About this course

This course is suitable for those with a requirement to renew their current First Aid at Work certificate, where the current certificate has not yet reached the expiration date.

What will I learn?

The following topics will be covered:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Assessing an incident
  • Recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness
  • Assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty
  • Choking, wounded, bleeding and casualties in shock
  • Chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis

Entry requirements
Candidates must have completed the initial Level 3 First Aid at Work qualification to enable them to take this refresher course. 
Study, assessment and qualifications

A copy of your current certificate must be provided prior to attending the course.

Assessment is by an exam consisting of 12 questions and 3 practical assessments designed to demonstrate your skills in:

  • Incident Management
  • Caring for sufferers of shock
  • Caring for an unconscious casualty
  • CPR

A minimum of 9 correct answers out of 12 is required to pass. This must be achieved before moving on to the practical assessments.

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a HABC First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years.

Additional costs and information

Please DO NOT book this course unless you hold a current First Aid at Work Certificate with an expiry date within 1 month of attending this course.

Where the certificate has expired, you are required to attend a full 3-day First Aid at Work course.
