Developing an Art and Design Portfolio

About this course

During this course you will develop an Art and Design portfolio.  This will be achieved by being taught a how to use a series of materials and methods over the weeks.  Each week you will produce something new to expand your skillset and also contribute to your portfolio.

What will I learn?

On completion, you should be able to use:

  • Observational and illustrative drawing
  • Abstract and figurative photography
  • Abstract and representational painting
  • A variety of printmaking methods
  • Sculpture techniques

Each week will contribute towards your portfolio, which will be completed during the final week.

The following topics will be covered during the course:

  • Drawing exercises
  • Photographic techniques
  • Painting principles
  • Printmaking methods
  • Sculptural practices

You will have a complete portfolio of artwork at the end of this course.


Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements associated with this course.

Study, assessment and qualifications

Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.

Additional costs and information

You should bring with you an A4 or A3 sketchbook, a 2B pencil and fine liner pen.  The tutor will advise of any further equipment needed at the first session.
