About this course

The Chartered Management Institute is the only Charted Professional body in the UK. CMI Management qualification are highly prized by both public and private sector organisations and students can progress to “Chartered Manager” status through further study.

This qualification is design for team leaders, or potential team leaders, to support the development of their skills in leading a team, making sure that the team works to achieve the business objectives.  Team leading lets you develop your knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of team leader by focusing on specific skills.

What will I learn?

The CMI level 2 Certificate in Team leading requires students to complete a combination of units to a minimum of 15 Credits.  The units covered  are:

  • Personal development as a Team Leader
  • Introduction to Team Leading
  • Providing Customer Service
Entry requirements

CMI does not specify entry requirements for this qualification. Written communication forms an increasingly important part of the CMI qualification.  For the best chance of success, it is recommended that students should have a good standard of English before starting the course.

Study, assessment and qualifications

During weekly classes your tutor will introduce you to the skills and knowledge needed for each unit, using a variety of resources including lectures, handouts and e-learning via the college virtual learning environment.

Time in class will always include the completion of practice activities to consolidate knowledge and this will be reinforced by home study.

Home work will be set most weeks, and you will also need to allow time for additional reading.  Regular attendance in class is essential to maximise your chance of success.

Unit assignments will be issued to assessment your knowledge and understanding of the unit.  There is no grading for CMI qualification, and external verification of the students’ work only confirms that the required criteria for achievement have been met.  

Additional costs and information

The course fee includes all tuition and your registration and member fee.  Text books and not provided, however you will have access to the college library which has a good range of text to support your learning. A range of on – line resources will also be available

What could I do next?

Successful completion of this qualification will enable a student to progress to the next level of learning, Level 3 First line Management.

Apprenticeships and Adult Education Funded Courses
The College’s Adult funded courses and apprenticeships prior to 1st May 2017 and apprenticeships with non-levy paying employers post 1st May 2017, are funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and part financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESF). ESF supports activities to extend employment opportunities and develop a skilled workforce.
