About this course

This course follows on from the Beginners Digital Photography course and aims to strengthen that knowledge.

You will enjoy a swift re-cap of what you already know, followed by lots of practice on a visit to some of the Devizes landmarks.


What will I learn?

On completion, you should be able to: 

  • Confidently compose and expose exciting photographs
  • Overcome troubleshooting
  • Learn to recognise the photographic potential in your surroundings and capture the moments creatively

The following topics will be covered during the course: 

  • How to create a great composition
  • Exposure
  • White balance
  • Tips and tricks for portrait photography
  • RAW files and when to consider shooting RAW

We will also aim to answer any questions you may have or resolve any difficulties you have come across since the beginners course.

There are no entry requirements associated with this course.

Study, assessment and qualifications

Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.

Additional costs and information

There are no additional course costs.

You should bring with you:

  • Camera with a fully charged battery
  • Instruction manual
  • Lenses
  • Tripod if you have one
  • Photographs you would like to discuss
  • Lunch (as there are no catering facilities at the Devizes Centre)
  • Small change for tea/coffee if required
  • Warm clothes for the outside photoshoot session
