About this course

This two hour taster session will give you a basic overview of the cooking and eating of the Georgian period. Some of the context of the period will be explored and food of the period will be discussed. With quotes and sources from the period and a chance to taste some recipes, this session will allow you to experience something of what Georgians ate and how they lived. Information will be available about the content of the 10 week course and how to enrol.

What will I learn?

On completion, you will:

  • Have a basic understanding of the keys ways in which Georgian food varies from the food of today
  • Have a basic understanding of some of the historical context of the period
  • Have experienced some tastes from the period
  • Have an insight into where to go to find out more
  • Recipe cards available to take home

  • Key facts about the period – social and political context
  • Key facts about the food of the period – types of foods eaten and styles of dining
  • An overview of the 10 week course and what this will cover
  • Quotes and sources from the period will be explored
  • Further reading available
